        My Father was admitted to Blackthorns after an extensive hospital stay. We couldnt be happier with the care he received. Every member of staff was extremely kind and helpful. My Father being bedridden was treated with respect and dignity by everyone. We as family were kept informed at all times. Chef went out of his way to cook my Fathers favorite dishes in an attempt to coax him to eat. Mostly it was to no avail, but chef never got discouraged, he tried day after day. The Manager Joanne and assistant Manager Cora were phenomenal at seeing my Father had everything he needed on a daily basis. I would highly recommend this care home.

        Please please don't send any of your family members there. My mum went onto this home and lost 7kgs in 2 months. The toilets are dirty, the food they get is cold. She had things taken out of her room... things went missing all the time. So stay away from this home.

        Unfortunately, we cannot leave a good review for this home. Our mother was admitted as an emergency, due to her husband needing to go into hospital, and we were grateful for that. However, she deteriorated drastically over the three weeks she was there. Having been able to walk with her trolley on admission, she was only able to transfer from bed to chair within a few days. Having her own teeth, she had always had regular mouth care at home. We found her toothbrush unopened in her wash bag after five days. She could drink from her own cup - that disappeared. She could feed herself - that ability deteriorated within days. At the end of her third week, she was found on her room during a visit very unwell and was admitted to hospital with severe dehydration and a urinary infection. Not impressed!
