I cannot fault the service provided by all of the staff at Blacktop. Sarah was friendly and helpful with all of my booking details. I had 4 days booked for DAS course this week.
On arrival I was greeted by Meg who offered to order me a drink straight away as I was early and waiting for Steve to arrive. Steve took us out on the first and third day whilst Craig took us out on the other 2. Both of them were extremely good at communicating what was needed to pass both tests. They guided me where necessary and also there was lots of praise when my riding was to a good standard. Lunch and drinks were provided on all days which is an extremely nice touch
After the first day Steve offered me a refund of a full day's fee as he thought my riding ability did not require the 4th day of training. This was done immediately and in my bank before the end of the first day.
All of the staff clearly enjoy what they do and strive for all students to do as well as they possibly can whilst making the training fun and interesting.
I am pleased to say I passed both tests with no minors which is a credit to Steve and Craig for the training they provided to myself.
Please ignore the negative reviews as they are definitely not a true reflection of Blacktop. I would recommend them to everyone looking for motorcycle training.
Thanks again and see you soon

As the day progressed, Steve approached and asked me if I had bought the insurance for an additional lesson. Following this, it felt like he was expecting/relying on me to make mistakes. Rather than encourage me to learn from these mistakes, I felt belittled and judged for making rookie errors.
I came to this course to learn, having never rode a motorcycle before. Instead, I felt pressured and judged for not immediately knowing how to operate things in a smooth manner. It quickly began to settle in that there was no intention to continue with the training any further than the car park.
During the course, I was flagged down and repeatedly told to relax and to stop being anxious, at one point, he even told me that my hands were shaking. This couldn't be further from the truth, I was not anxious, and in-fact enjoying the learning process.
I was told there was not enough tea in China to take me out on the road and that I'd need to come back again for a fee of 80, however, I'd be allowed to skip the modules I had previously completed.
Ultimately, I feel like I was fobbed off and had my training cut short on the basis that I made rookie mistakes that personally, I believe could have been worked upon there and then. I was in control of the motorcycle, however there was a few kinks to work through, such as using three fingers to break instead of four, and easing off the throttle when shifting gears. When these issues were pointed out, I started to address them, however his mind was clearly already made.
Other than that, the motorcycles were gorgeous and well kept, the site had toilets on-site, they ordered us some food and could have a laugh. The vibes were very positive. It's just a shame what I have described above. Following this, I will be going to another provider to resit my CBT.
