My initial appointment was fantastic. My eyes have been getting worse over the past year, but not because my has were deteriorating, but because I had been prescribed the wrong strength of glasses. (Not, by HomeSight) My examination was literally like seeing the light. The optometrist was very professional and experienced, he found the perfect strength of lenses for my eyes. I was like a kid waiting for Christmas, I was so excited to be able to see properly again. Sadly, my bubble burst when my glasses were delivered. My readers were brilliant. But, distance glasses were nothing like the ones Id ordered. In fact, they were mens glasses. The lens was great, but totally useless to me. Much too big, tortoiseshell, not pink. Square frame, not round. The chap who came to fit them did not grasp how much disappointment this caused me. He said he was only interested in if the lens was correct, and the frame was not his problem. No apology. His attitude to someone who is 68, in physical pain, and dismayed at the mix up, was nothing less than ignorant, lacking empathy or concern. When I called HomeSight and explained the situation, initially the lady was very apologetic and understanding. She said she would speak with her manager, then she would get the director to call me. Never happened. This changed once I had told the full truth about my experience of my fitting appointment. Fitting service is thorough. What fitting? He bent the frame a bit, I put the glasses back on, still not right, bent the frame again, ok, but he didnt check if they were straight. No thorough fitting at all. Ive asked for a refund, but now Ive been told I have to wait for it to go to complaints section. Ummm? I pay full price, as Im not entitled to benefits as my state pension is 3 over the threshold. Ive cut back on my spending to save for the glasses, which I had explained to the lady in the office. But HomeSight are going to make me wait for my money, for as long as they can hold out for. One bad apple, on a bad day, can spoil the sight life of a pensioner. What a shame a fantastic initial appointment turned into a nightmare. No lovely glasses for Christmas. Im not wearing mens glasses out in public, on special family occasions for anyone. I will have to revert back to my old glasses.

The convenience of getting a home eye sight test done right in the comfort of your own home cannot be underestimated. If you have any mobility issues or would just prefer a home eye sight test to be carried out at your home in London and its boroughs , give Home Sight a call, they are NHS accredited.
