My wife called into Viking to get a balloon she had previously purchased filled with helium, this was a special themed balloon to send a very good friend off on a journey with best wishes, which incidentally was to undertake a gruelling trek raising over 4000 in the process for a fabulous charity. Unfortunately this couldn't be purchased anywhere locally and sadly had to be sourced on amazon. Viking is our local hardware store, which we have frequented for over 20 years, she thought it would be simple to call in and ask the store to fill this balloon, whilst obviously paying for the service. To her amazement she was refused point blank and told our policy is "you never bought it from us and we are not filling it", she told him it wasn't one stocked by them, he walked over to the shelf with their balloons only to find they didn't actually have this. Unbeknown to the owner (the man that served my wife) my wife suffers from MS and has been struggling recently with her symptoms, she even showed him the card she carries to verify this, my wife shared with the owner that fact that he had made her very upset with all the commotion just to get some helium in a balloon, at that point he said he was going to help her on this occasion, but now he wasn't going to bother, after being made aware of her condition. I find it very sad that this man clearly has no empathy for people in their time of need. My son then went to Hobby Craft in Altrincham who duly obliged without all the commotion and charged 3, you can see why small niche retailers struggle with this attitude. On a personal note I called the owner the following day, leaving my mobile number to discuss this with him, suffice it to say he didn't bother. Needless to say we won't be shopping with this man again, you can decide if wish to do so.

Great shop for all your diy and gardening bits. Sorted me out this morning with some working keys for a problem lock. They always go the extra mile.
