We purchased a stairlift from Companion for my husband at the end of March, shortly after he had been admitted to hospital for a planned operation. He never came out of hospital and passed away last week at the age of 61. I called Companion to explain the situation and to ask if they would buy the stairlift back as it had never been used. They do not offer this service and were completely unsympathetic. They would remove it for free and "dispose of it" (what? literally throw it away?? I doubt it) The salesman was falling over himself to sell the stairlift back in March and phoned goodness knows how many times to ask if we were ready to place the order. Absolutely disgusting company - no empathy, no morals, just money grabbers.

Despite me asking the salesperson directly about removal of the stairlift should my mother need to move due to her health and him assuring me twice that this would not be a problem, I am now being told that you don't remove stairlifts for private clients. It's a shame because the product itself is good but it's stressful enough at the moment sorting my mums stuff out without having the feeling I was lied to !!

Came out very quickly, but salesman should have been selling cars and not stairlifts. No consideration for elderly and frail customer, with regard to health and safety.

Difficult to know where to start. The first appointment the guy came an hour early when I expressly requested that I was not at home and he did the visit with my wife who has dementia. To put her through this was ridiculous which was why I specifically said this should not happen. He left no contact details I had no idea how he would fit the stairlift to my complicated stairs. He did leave a quote for a particular staircase. Another guy came two weeks later said the first staircase that was recommended would not fit and he gave me a different option and a different price which was more expensive. He wasnt sure whether it would fit due to the complication of the staircase however with a 500 deposit they would come out and do a survey The survey man came and said it would not fit there was a clash however he would contact me within two days just to confirm this. There was no communication whatsoever after a week and I cancelled the order and requested my money back. A week later a card came through the door saying they would fit the stairlift the following week! When you contact them you Get to her front office and you might as well ring bloody Sainsburys because nothing you say to the front office gets through to the back office! I have been waiting over 2 1/2 weeks now for a refund and Ive still not got it these people are complete Cowboys please do not bother contacting them.
