Burneston Dental - Dentists in Guildford

At first I was happy at Burneston dental. Prices were on the high end but fair and the work done by the dentist and hygienist was of a very high standard. Then came the day I had a cough in early December on the day of my appointment for a filling. So I phoned up the practice and said that I had a cough. I said that I was still happy to attend but obviously I would understand if they wanted to cancel. They said they would cancel. I asked if I could rebook and they said "No" and that they would get back to me... Ok a bit weird but fine. No one got back to me so I phoned up about a week later and was again told they would "be in touch." About a week later I phoned again to be told "they couldn't see that far ahead in the diary" and they would be in touch in the new year. Now I don't know about you but to me "in the new year" is the first week of January or so. The weird unable to book in the future to this day has still never been explained to me. Anyway 2 weeks in I receive an email saying I need to book a general appointment (at my expense) before the treatment I was still waiting for a rebooking for. At this point I was fairly miffed so wrote an email of complaint to the practice manager. They were apologetic and assured me it would be sorted and they would get back in touch asap. Ok fine. No response comes for a few days so I email again. Again apologies from the practice manager and am told the dentist would contact me before the end of the day. I then receive an email from the dentist saying that they essentially didn't think my complaint was fair (even though I had made it very clear my work was fine just admin was poor) and that I should find another dentist somewhere else. So yeah don't dare complain if they mess you about... I wasn;t originally gonna post this review but it really came to a head today when I received my reminder for my next checkup... As I said good dentistry but absolutely shambolic customer service, admin and refusal to listen to a formal complaint.

My last visit to the dental hygienist was different. The 'ice pick of doom' was put to one side in favour of a high speed air and water treatment; more like going down a water slide than falling into a pile of thistles! Afterwards, my mouth felt clean and fresh and didn't look like it had just gone 10 rounds with Tyson Fury. The new method costs a fraction more, but you won't regret it!

I wish to highly recommend Dr Christian Metzner and the team at Burneston Dental. Dr Metzner is a highly experienced, professional and very gentle dentist who treated me following a traumatic MTB accident which resulted in damage to my front tooth. I am a nervous patient and I was handled with care and gentleness at every appointment. Dr Metzner was meticulous in ensuring that my new ceramic crown is as close a match to my existing front tooth as possible. Burneston Dental's patient services, including front office, dental nurses and oral hygienist was excellent. My whole family now goes there for all our dental requirements.

I know when some people go to the dentist they dread it. However I quite look forward to a visit to see Samantha, Sarah and Natalie at Burneston Dental, it's like seeing old friends! The practise is always welcoming and spotlessly clean. Always good advice (FLOSS!) and on the occasions when I have had to had a filling or a chip repaired the work has been done to a very high standard. The booking reminders via email are super helpful too. Could not recommend more.
