I asked for a macchiato and was given a milky coffee with some thin foam covering it. When I politely returned it and pointed out that I'd asked for a macchiato, the "barrista" said that's what it was. I said a macchiato is an espresso with just a dollop of foam. He said abruptly that's what it was and "that's how we do them here". Macchiato means "spotted" i.e. a spot of foam, it shouldn't discolour the coffee but I wasn't there to argue, If anyone does want to taste a good coffee locally, then The Hideaway is excellent, know how to do a proper macchiato and are very friendly

Nice little corner coffee shop. Nicely decorated and cosy. Had a small seating area inside and also some outside. The seats werent the comfiest but the atmosphere was very nice and was very busy! The coffee was delicious, a little strong but nicer than some coffee chains. My only disappointment was the food was so expensive. A small sausage roll was 6, A ham and cheese croissant was 6, Parma ham and pesto roll was 7.50! Was a bit steep, the prices of the cakes were around 3.50 which wasnt so bad. But if you just want a coffee I recommend, plus the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
