Overall, a lovely stay, great facilities and location! Myself and my partner stayed with our dog in Stags Rest. The cabin was easy to find, parking right outside, a secure garden for Alex (our dog), a bottle of wine and a cake left for us on arrival and a clean and comfortable cabin. The hot tub was amazing- easy to use and always really hot. Towel hooks were available next to it for your towels and a table nearby to put anything like drinks, phones etc. on. Use of the property includes a fairly large grass area which is great for dogs and there is a resident horse who is so friendly and runs straight up when beckoned (in a secure field or sometimes in the stable)! The hosts 2 dogs (collie types) are very friendly too and so cute! Our only slight criticisms which are fairly specific to us/the independent person are the following: The bedroom windows are very close to the large bush and trees so in the morning (about 5am) you get woken up to a lovely but incredibly loud chorus of bird song. While this is lovely and you are in the countryside I am a heavy sleeper and even I got woken up to it and couldnt get back to sleep. We bought some earplugs the next day which worked a treat so just beware of this if you think it may be an issue for you. Due to the cabin being a rustic wood cabin there are lots of splits and gaps in the wood which means spiders!! Not an issue for most Im sure but I am terrified of spiders so this was a bit of an issue for me, and there were lots of cobwebs around as although the place was clean I assume these cobwebs reappear very quickly after dusting! If you have a reactive/not dog friendly dog this cabin may not be suitable for you. Alex is incredibly well behaved and human friendly (and even loves cats and horses) but is scared of other dogs. Although you do have a private garden, round the side (where the hot tub and outdoor seating is) there is a low fence shared with the neighbour cabin (Robins Rest) which meant if they had a dog or dogs this would have been an issue for Alex- luckily our neighbours didnt have a dog but we would be wary of this if booking again. The other slight issue is the host goes out in the morning (around 9am in our experience) to muck out the horses stable and transfer her to the field and during this time their dogs are running around off lead. They are very well behaved and friendly but again, if this would be a problem for you/your dog(s) maybe contact the host and discuss this prior to booking. Overall, a lovely experience with just a few points deducted for our personal situation/issues but would definitely stay again and would probably try Robins Rest next time (as its probably a more suitable size for us).
