Thanet Well Lodge Retreat

We stayed here for my birthday in March and whilst it was a lovely trip away there were many issues with the accommodation and our overall experience at Thanet. The location of the lodge is down as greystoke but please dont be fooled its a long and unsafe 5 mile trip into the village! Upon check in, the lady only told us the basics and wasnt very welcoming at all. We found out we were in the lodge directly next to reception which meant throughout our stay we heard and saw the ground workers coming back & forth on their vehicles. And furthermore, on our first night we had to experience their getting ready for a night out (we think it was the (teenage) kids of the owners?!) they were shouting, swearing and being blatantly disrespectful. Luckily that was only the case for the first night. Within the lodge; tired decor, pieces of wallpaper missing, holes in the wall, no light at the dressing table and the en-suite shower was blocked so when I washed my hair, the water went all over the bathroom! The gate outside of the front door slammed opened every 30 minutes (due to high winds) but this really needs fixing. In the kitchen the dishwasher didnt wash properly, there was no chopping board which Id of thought was a basic necessity for self catering. The kitchen worktop also had a big piece missing out of it. Apart from that, it just lacked the nice touches such as throws or a nice welcome pack with some information in about local amenities etc. Oh and we had planned a couple of nights in but the TV wasnt smart, luckily wed taken our IPad but not ideal. To top it off, none of this feedback was communicated at the time of our stay because the person who checked us out didnt even ask if we had a good stay! Im from the world of hospitality and I expect more, that is pretty standard surely? We wouldnt come back here Im afraid and wouldnt recommend, very disappointing indeed. Natalie & Lee
