We wanted to thank all the staff for the wonderful care given to Shirley. For these staff it's a vocation not a job, they could not have done more to make her stay comfortable. The support and care they also gave us during those last days could not have been more considerate.

On behalf of my family, I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to you and all of the staff at Hatchmoor Nursing Home involved in the care of my father who sadly passed this week. Suffering from late-stage Parkinson's, entered Hatchmoor after experiencing two other local care homes and an emergency hospitalisation into end-of-life care in 2021. With Covid visiting restrictions eased due to his predicament, my father then rallied on finally being in the company of his loved ones and was hugely fortunate to find himself re-located to Hatchmoor. I can honestly say that being offered a place under your care at Hatchmoor saved his life and gave him and his loved ones precious time that would unquestionably otherwise have been lost. Your pragmatic approach to visiting in the most complex of circumstances, your personal accountability and availability and your clear and timely communication of tough decision-making were hugely re-assuring and in stark contrast to all that wed experienced previously. For my dad, being able to see his wife on a daily basis meant everything to him and it made these final few months of his life all the more bearable for both of them. Nursing someone in my fathers condition is hugely challenging and it is testament to your staff how comfortable and cared for my father was until the very end. Your staff do an incredible job and the rapport they managed to build with my dad, the smiles, the humour and the patience shown, even on his bad days, was heartwarming. No one wants to live out their final years in a nursing home but, in the circumstances, Im certain that the final chapter of dads life was spent in the absolute best place for him. Thank you again so much for all that you and your staff did in providing a safe, comfortable and caring environment for my dad to end his battle with Parkinsons. In a country with such a struggling social care system, Hatchmoor is a beacon of hope and an example to all. Please do feel free to share this message with your staff, particularly those who cared so well for my father on Picasso Ward.
