My sister and I recently walked the Stour Valley Path from Newmarket to Cattawade. Our first stop for the night was The Old Vicarage at Great Thurlow where we arrived very muddy and tired. Nothing was too much trouble for Jane our hostess. We were shown to a lovely room in this lovely old vicarage with everything we needed after our long walk. A bath to soak in, supper ( as the pub is currently closed ) and electric blankets very cosy. We were given an excellent breakfast, much of which was home produced, sitting at a table overlooking the tree lined driveway which looked wonderful in a sunny autumn morning. Definitely a place to stay at any time but perfect for the Stour Valley walk as the path continues close by through lovely countryside. To summarise a gem. Thank you Jane.

Wonderfull B&B, 5 minutes outside Haverhill. Beautiful gardens, hilly views, strawberry wallpaper and a dog named Truffle. For a brief stay this beautiful house, previously the residence of the vicar, is a real treat.
