        Started walking round the mere and had to beat a hasty retreat due to sudden deafening shooting of birds/ducks. Just terrible. How is this OK?

        A million mallards meeting murder. A revolting place full of mallards, not much else today, a few lapwing, gulls. Bird blinds surround the main part of the lake. The mallards, bred to be shot, literally sitting ducks, difficult to miss even if you cant shoot though you might just maim them or fill them with shot. Horrible place to end this trip to Bury. Go to Lackford Lakes to see wonderful wild birds instead.

        Entrance to the Lake NOT Good if follow Google maps. Go to Church Road ( At the MONUMENT ) and then turn first Left at the red box and follow Footpath sign. NO access for motor vehicle.
