Not a long walk from the car park and a great view all around the monument.

Great walk up to the monument and then from there to Roseberry topping. Skylarks, pheasants, all manner of small birds, beautiful gorse flowers and a whispy cloud sky. Perfect.

Had a lovely walk to see the monument which is part of the Cleveland way. We parked at Dikes Lane at Gribdale gate. There is limited free parking, but we went quite early (8.30am) and there was plenty of spaces. The walk is quite steep, and a decent walk on gravel, rocky paths. Definitely not for anyone that could struggle going up a few flights of stairs. There are some great views along the way up, with view points to see Roseberry Topping. There are no facilities at the car park or beyond, so pack drinks and snacks. The sign posts although tell you the route for the Cleveland way are useless to get you back to the car park, so if your doing a loop , plan it before you go, or turn round and go back the way you went, or youll end up guessing and walk further than you planned. (Like we did) Id like to do Roseberry topping , but it looks harder. The Wainestones is another great hike/walk.
