The property itself could definitely be improved - it seems like it was rushed to be completed & theres lots of unfinished areas and small changes would make a massive difference. The bathroom has no form of heating so its freezing. It also wasnt the cleanest on our arrival with some loose hairs around the sink and shower. The tap on the sink was really loose. The water pressure is very low so in a cold bathroom with low water pressure showers arent enjoyable especially after having being out walking all day! Its also not complete - the vinyl flooring has bits missing around the edges, the ceiling is just plastic insulation sheets with rough cut edges, the door doesnt fit the frame so it doesnt actually shut (door is too small for the frame) and doesnt have a lock.
The bedroom is nicely decorated but theres a door leading to outside that doesnt have a curtain or a blind! So daylight comes pouring in early hours which wasnt great when we have a 6 month old with us. The other window has a blind but its fitted backwards and on the outside of the recessed window so leaves a gap a couple of inches wide - and you can see the tags on the blind as its on there backward. The mattress is very soft - Im sure its just a preference thing but it was way too soft for me.
A tiny dribble of washing up liquid was left, no sponges, dishwasher tablets anti bac spray etc so make sure to pack everything for a fully self catered stay.
We were informed a new boiler had been put in to the property, they had left electric heaters in the lounge and bedroom just in case. On our penultimate day the boiler came up with an error and bleeped every 10 minutes. I text the owner, Tony, about it but he never replied. Luckily the hot water still worked but the radiators didnt so we were glad to have the electric ones!
Theres also a crows nest on the roof - it didnt bother us but they could be quite noisy early doors.
Overall it is a lovely small cottage and great for a dog - some small changes would make the world of difference to improving it as well as better communication from the owner.

We have just returned from a four night stay in one of the pods and for us this holiday couldnt have been any better. The pods are warm and cosy and extremely well cleaned, they have everything you could possibly need and more for a glamping trip (hot shower, kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge/freezer). They even have wifi and a smart tv you can log into your favourite streaming service to unwind with a movie after a long day out. Outside the pods you have your own fire pit, bbq, picnic bench and an amazing hot tub. We loved unwinding in there on an evening and even saw bats flying in amongst the trees!! The pods are in a walled garden set away from the main house which was perfectly secure for our dog to enjoy roaming around. Tony and his family are very warm and friendly and ensure you have everything you need and they even have alpacas and llamas you can go and meet.
The location was great to go and explore so many different places from Muncaster Castle, Wast water and sacrfel pike, Whitehaven to name a few and is only an hour out from Windermere which we stopped off at on the way home.
It truly was the perfect get away, we didnt want to come home!! Cant wait to book again next year and see how they are getting on with the restoration of the beautiful Harecroft Hall.
Thanks a million for creating such a perfect little piece of paradise.
