Often when you look at a website it overstates the rooms, amenities, service, and the food, . With Goldsborough Hall you must stay, eat, and stroll through the lovely gardens, to fully appreciate the superb offering. It is good enough for royalty. Lime Trees in the gardens have the names of those who planted them. Kings, Princesses, Dukes, and other nobility have stayed there when it was the home of Princess Mary. The first thing you recognise is charming and efficient greeting you get at reception. We were taken to our Garden Luxury Room which, as the name suggests, overlooks the gardens. Beautifully appointed and pristine. Before dinner canapes taken in the library are a hint of the delights to come. The Chef Josh Barnes has produced a taster menu that is a masterpiece. We have never had one a dish containing Mucky Fat and another including Caviar on the same menu. When you look at the menu suspend judgement. You will be taken through a panoply of flavours, textures, and delights. It is fair to say it was one of, or maybe, the best meal we have had in decades. We didnt venture through the wine flight, but the Portuguese Hidden Gem was lovely and not expensive. If you are a wine connoisseur there is plenty to suit your pallet. We had seven dishes in all, plus the canapes. There was an eighth, which we are sure is delightful, but we were replete and satisfied. The next morning breakfast was just what you expect after the wonderful dinner. Although we didnt have afternoon tea, we saw the generous plates of sandwiches and confectionary which would worth a visit for that alone. All the staff were charming and efficient including the gardeners who kindly explained the workings of the gardens. Yes, you are correct, we loved the stay and will return.
