I had an unfortunate and unfruitful relationship with LoftGuru. They are responsive and generally pleasant to deal with, so your experience might be different. In our case however, they decided to outsource the architectural part to CivilConsulting Ltd (they will get their fair share of bad review, no worries). What I'm unsatisfied with regarding LoftGuru is their insistence in using CivilConsulting as their partner architect, which then triggers this review on them. The details: we ended up depositing 5k to start a loft conversion and the work never started, so we lost 5k. The reason is that the council rejected the plans prepared by the architect, not once, not twice, but three times! You would probably expect that professionals like LoftGuru or their CivilConsulting partner know what they are doing, but no, it was a simple matter to ask the council what was wrong with the plan to get it accepted. The problem for us was the exhausting relationship with CivilConsulting, slowly and incorrectly processing our change requests. We hit a wall where it was clear the architect was not even trying to understand what the problem was nor reading our instructions. LoftGuru here is responsible of doing nothing to unblock the situation and decide to partner with such an unprofessional architect. You might be lucky and have none of these problems, but we spent 5k for absolutely nothing. LoftGuru decided to keep the deposit claiming to cover the architect expenses for this, which is utterly ridiculous.
