No one in restaurant. We had a table for 3. 2 meals arrived. Not mine. Was asked if we wanted to eat together???? All meals swimming in grease. Quite possibly the worst meal we've ever had. So very disappointing but no wonder there were no other diners. That should've been a red flag for us. Lesson learned.

Food quality was good. Felt sorry for our server as she had too many parties to cover and at times didn't have time to speak to us when we needed her

I have visited the White Hart on a number of occasions. We visited on Sunday 16th April 2023 at 5pm. It was not very busy at that time but despite that service was very slow. We waited 30mins from arriving to getting our first drinks order. Service was also very slow between courses. Furthermore a person in our group is a strict vegetarian and has never eaten meat in her life. She ordered the Vegetarian roast and when she started eating the dish she saw something that looked like meat. We raised this with the waitress and she confirmed it was meat and was put on the plate by the kitchen in error. It is appreciated that mistakes do happen but as a restaurant you need to very careful these mistakes do not happen and particularly this sort of mistake. In addition the attitude of the staff once we raised the issue was very blas. It was treated as if it happens all the time and isnt an issue. We were completely shocked by this. The waitress took the plate away without confirming what she was going to do to rectify the issue. My friend felt sick after what she had experienced and called the waitress over to say she did not want that same dish again and ordered Bruschetta instead. When the bill came we were charged for the meat contaminated Vegetarian roast and the replacement dish. We again had to raise the issue and the so called vegetarian roast was taken off the bill. All in all a very bad experience had on this visit and I very much doubt we will return again. It appears there is a general disregard for food contamination and food safety standards. I would have massive reservations about visiting this place if you have any allergies (whether nut or otherwise). I have also reported them to the Food Standards Agency.

A promising start with good kerb-appeal and ample parking. We had asked for a quiet table as we were hosting my 92-year-old father so being the only dining table in our wing of the bar with the corresponding absence of atmosphere was our own fault. A "cleaning is being carried out"(It wasn't) notice was on the floor and that contributed to the overall lack of preparedness. The selection of beers was limited although, in contrast, the Gin offering was comprehensive. As for the food, 50% of our party of six commented positively on their food with the Sea-Bass, Pizza and chicken pie (Which I ordered) all being to an acceptable+ standard. For balance, the fish and chip order was a disaster with overdone batter and greasy fish to the extent that my wife barely ate a single forkful. I suggested that she send it back but she didn't want to hold up the rest of the group while hers was being remade. This was a mistake on our part and one which denied your team the ability to put things right. I could tell that the batter would be awful from where I was sat so was surprised your team even let that plate out of the kitchen. The level of service from our young waitress was good(ish) but the other team member who on bumping into my wife said "Sorry babe" would benefit from some training on "reading the room".

Beautiful setting with a great selection of food and drink. Super friendly service. Ordered the truffle rigatoni which ended up to be tagliatelle instead and lacked truffle aroma and flavour, but was still good. Kids meals were decent and prices are fair.
