Appalling treatment of a lone woman traveller. My friend was coming to Glastonbury to speak at a conference. She booked with Hayden House weeks in advance. There was a huge storm (Eunice) and her train from London was cancelled. She contacted the owner the morning of Eunice (18/02/2022) and he tried to suggest to her that the conference had been cancelled and that everything in Glastonbury was closed. Both these statements were completely untrue. She spent ages trying to get a bus to Glastonbury and eventually got one leaving London in the late afternoon. She rang the owner to tell him she was on her way and he told her that her booking was cancelled as he needed the room for "family members". Knowing she would be arriving into Glastonbury at about 10pm with nowhere to stay. Absolutely awful way to treat a guest. I would caution anyone, but especially women travellers, that this person feels perfectly fine about dumpring you, late in the evening, if your booking inconveniences him in any way.
