Just been for a walk this is a very nice place to hear birds. Heard a cuckoo, which was a treat. However, as seen in some of the previous reviews, there were some dog walkers who had their dogs off the lead running all over the place despite the dogs on lead signs in certain parts of the reserve. Plus, the amount of dog mess on and around the paths and dog mess bags that have clearly been left given state of them or hanging in trees is very sad. Having to spend more time watching where you're walking so as not to tread in dog mess instead of enjoying the reserve and the wonderful wildlife is a shame. Can I please ask that dog walkers respect the 'dogs on lead signs' when they see them and watch their dogs in order to clear up their mess and take it with you. If not, it just spoils it for everyone and is a risk to the wildlife that call the reserve home.

I was looking for somewhere different to walk my dogs and went here. It looks a very nice place to go to walk your dogs so we took a short walk and came across a countryside information board, hence the shortness of our walk. It seems that at least part of this area was used after ww11 to destroy and/or bury munitions including mustard agent, a particularly nasty anti personnel chemical. Apparently the site is still being monitored by the ministry of defence so that would suggest there is still some level of risk associated with the area although there is no restriction to the public. There was also a notice relating to a mysterious illness affecting some dogs causing vomiting and diarrhoea. Im not suggesting there is any great risk, only those wanting to go there can make a decision to go or not but I for one will not be going there again.
