My 9 year old little boy has been attending the taekwondo session with David since he was 4 years old and thoroughly enjoys it. David is a great teacher with well structured lessons which the kids seem to love.

3 years ago, on having a conversation with my daughter about clubs or activities she wanted to try, she mentioned Taekwondo. Gravesend and Medway Martial Arts stood out to us because of how local it was to us, the fact it gave us the option of attending up to 5 classes a week and, importantly, we had the opportunity on attending a number of classes free of charge on a trial basis. This was an important aspect because, like a number of sporting activities, Taekwondo does have a cost implication and kids do have a tendancy to change their mind quite frequently. After about half a dozen sessions, my daughter indicated to me that she really enjoyed the lessons and wanted to continue learning Taekwondo. The fact that my daughter both wanted to commit to Taekwondo and is still a member of the school, 3 years later, is testament to the ability of Mr Harper as an instructor, mentor and role model. The classes are varied and will consider technical elements such as kicking and patterns, as well as what many will recognise when they think of Taekwondo, the sparring element. Under Mr Harper's guidance, my daughter has developed good Taekwondo skills and has been encouraged to compete at a variety of competitions where she has had success both at sparring and with patterns. Mr Harper takes the time to consider and correct aspects of his students Taekwondo which suggest, to me at least, that this is not just a business to him, but the sharing of a lifetime's passion that he wants to pass on to the next generation.

My 8 year old has been training with David for close to 4 years now and has come on leaps and bounds in terms of confidence, fitness and coordination. David successfully manages to combine structured learning, fun and a friendly atmosphere all into one!
