Ive bought my last three lots of glasses from here and have been happy. The staff are lovely and helpful but on this occasion Im not happy with the glasses. I called to get an appointment and explained I only have Mondays and Tuesdays off work but the dispensing optician had no appointments in a month and the diary only went up to 4 weeks time, so I could not even Book in advance. I ended up going to vision express for my prescription. On choosing my glass in Asda the lady was very friendly. Two weeks later I got a call to pick them up. In the shop trying them on they seemed ok. My prescription sunglasses are perfect. Varifocals, perfect vision and nicely made. My main specs for everyday are not right. The part on the lens where the two prescriptions meet is blurred and Im struggling to see out of it. After a fortnight of trying to push through I took them back on my day off getting a lift off my sister. . The assistant cleaned them and got me to try them back on as if the problem was a dirty lens, which was quite frustrating. I explained that my other pair were 100% so there was no issue with my prescription, it was the way the lens was made. She tried tightening up the frame, then said they were wonky on my face! Although she was lovely this was frustrating. I wouldnt have took the time to take them back if they were dirty or wonky! In the end i said Id worn my sunglasses all day with no issue. But I can only wear my regular specs for an hour before getting nausea and I cannot read my computer screen at work. She replied that I wouldnt have tested my sunglasses at work though so it may be they would be the same. I did test them and they were perfect. The issue is the left lens. In the end she was stumped and said Id have to have an appointment with the dispensing optician - but same old problem. They work a couple of days a week there and never when Im off work and the diary doesnt go past 4 weeks. I reluctantly agreed to an appointment at the next Asda optician in Washington. I have no clue where that is and she said it was actually nearer for me and Id find with my car satnav. Unfortunately this isnt true, I do not have a car and this optician is two buses the journey takes over 90 minutes away from where I live. I didnt want to be more awkward than I already felt to made the appointment. I cant take up a whole day going there and back so Im going to call it a day and go buy glasses elsewhere. Overall disappointing. the specs may be cheap (good for someone on a low income like me) but if you cant wear them its a waste of money. Im going to wear my old ones and save for a pair from somewhere else.

I had two pairs of prescription glasses ,one bifocal and the other. prescription sun glasses for only 140/00 and two months ago paid 180/00for one pair at Boots the Chemist and went back three times as the glasses were so uncomfortable to wear,so I know now where to go for excellent service,The staff were most helpful at Asda I must add the staff at Boots were friendly and approachable but at the end of the day I am left with the glasses from Boots unable to wear. and a waste of money and time,

Absolutely fantastic service from start to finish! Having been going to another well known and far more expensive optician since childhood and never quite getting the right prescription ( hence never seen clearly and getting headaches etc ) I was advised by a consultant in the hospital eye clinic to stop using my glasses, change opticians and get my eyes re checked. I thought I would give Asda a visit. Why did I not do this years ago!?! Honestly, the service, from eye test, to advice on frames, to collection, the attention to detail that the lovely team here used was brilliant! The prices of the frames is clearly marked and extremely affordable ( they also accept NHS vouchers for those eligible) There is definitely an affordable and stylish frame for everyone. Best of all, when I tried my new glasses on, the world became a much brighter and clearer place. . . No more headache or blurred vision! If like me, you thought that a supermarket optician couldnt possibly compete with more established opticians, then please give Asda a go. They really have been life changing for me ( and a lot more affordable!)
