We took our electric assist orbit tandem to JD tandems for a service ,making a weekend of it,and what brilliant service we got from John,Jamie and the team. In the world of tandems these guys are simply the best.

Many thanks for your very prompt and understanding response! I have adjusted the star rating accordingly, this company really understands what customer service is! And yes, happy to agree that Brexit is a shame that never should have happened... For those who might think this is all too good to be true I keep my original 3-star review intact below (and I do not revoke a word about UPS): Unfortunately this is the exception to the 5-star review rule here... Let me stipulate first that there is nothing wrong with the quality of the product that I ordered online, nor with the service and communication prior to shipment of the order. That would definitely be another 5-star experience. BUT 1 star deduction for missing / misleading price information: on top of a total cost of 137 (for mid-rise stoker stem and shim, quite expensive, but the best option online) I had to pay to UPS a whopping 37,02 (27%) for customs and handling, which at least would justify an explicit warning - and preferably upfront payment of taxes to save me 16,70 (12%) handling costs. 174 for just this part is not a realistic price. 1 additional star deduction (could easily argue 2) for the way UPS further screwed my customer experience. Normally, if I have choice, shipping by UPS is a reason to not even consider ordering - as UPS' operating standard seems to be "whatever our competitors do, we can do worse" (website, app, communication, delayed delivery (already slow without delay), American legal stuff, etc.), but in this case I had no viable alternative. As I am a customer of JD Tandems and not of UPS (that you chose for me), please do not underestimate how the shipper can neutralise the experience of your customer!

Previous tandem bought from JDs 23 years ago. Always good support and help when needed. Made appointment to try new eTandem and Jamie and the team as helpful and informative as ever. They are all so knowledgeable and great to chat through ideas and options. Nothing is too much trouble from suggesting good routes and GPX files, to ensuring the bike is setup correctly for the demo ride. They take the time to ensure your order is right for you, and I look forward to another 23 years of tandeming with JDs support.

A short while after ordering an Orbit Velocity Steps E8000 in flaming red, JD Tandems called to inform a revision of the price ..downwards, a saving of over 400. Always a good start to a business transaction. To Gargrave from Norfolk to test ride on the demanding roads towards Malham. Undefeated by the Yorkshire hills, just imagine how the tandem performed on our return to Norfolk topography. Brilliant combination of superb product, exemplary customer service, friendly and knowledgeable staff but beware of the tiny, sociopathic dog. Rosalyn Proops and Peter Forster
