First thing to say is Kat is an excellent yoga teacher. She is lovely, always welcoming and a calm, softly spoken person. The yoga is taken seriously but she doesnt approach it without a sense of humour and our lessons are often punctuated with laughs and giggles. Every lesson is different. None of the repeat the same old routine. Kat clearly spends a lot of time planning each individual session and incorporating a variety of poses and exercises. Sometimes we have a month with a focus on one area of the body; lower back one month, shoulders another, etc. The sessions are also well planned according to the environment. I write this review after 8 weeks of lockdown, with the glorious weather weve had - for the really hot days, weve done sessions that help to cool you and cope with the heat. Of course, until recently weve had live yoga classes but Kat very quickly adapted to lockdown and has a range of online classes over Zoom, which works well. Its nice to continue one aspect of your weekly routine in a way that is as close to normal as possible. Though I am very much looking forward to when our face-to-face lessons can begin again. I am in my 60s and have creaky knees and a stiff shoulder and a number of others in our class have similar limitations. Kat is cognisant of all our individual issues and gives adaptations to poses to address those. She will demonstrate and explain the full pose, so you have it there to try for, but she will suggest how to use accessories, like belts or blocks, to assist or will give half-way poses that are slightly easier to take but you feel are working towards the full asana. If you are looking for a yoga teacher, either as a novice or a more experienced student, I dont think you could do better than Kat at Secret Yoga.

Kat's classes bring together the best of yoga in my opinion. She is grounded, lighthearted and real (so there's no showiness that you can experience in some yoga classes) and really knows her stuff. Everyone who attends is the same so classes are really friendly, it even comes across in online classes which are nearly as good as the face to face ones.
