I had a significant water leak coming from my boiler. I called Merretts on a Saturday and they rapidly sent out an engineer, stating an emergency callout charge of 150 plus VAT. Their engineer attended for less than half an hour, stating there was nothing he could do until the following week. He left with water still leaking significantly from the boiler, no repairs made. The following Wednesday the engineer attended and replaced the expansion vessel which allegedly was the cause of the leak. The boiler was still leaking when he left (2 litres per day), the recommendation was that maybe we needed a new boiler, it was possibly the right hydro block leaking. No follow up was made, we then received an invoice for 420.80. I paid the invoice, still no follow up. I then sent an email via the website stating my concern and dissatisfaction, 14 days later I received a response. The response was that they were happy to send out an engineer free of charge to see what the problem was, but made no offer of remuneration or compensation. My overall feeling is that this business is only really interested in your money, not making you feel valued as a customer and not following through on jobs which actually if left incomplete, can lead to significant damp repair costs in the home.
