We paid Abacus to clean our rental house before we checked out. The carpets were the last thing to do - we had cleaned the rest of the house and left the toilet with bleach in and the lid down. When the letting agent inspected the property and lifted the seat they found the toilet covered in faeces. The only possible explanation is that the person who cleaned the carpets left us a present and put the lid back down again (so we didn't find it). Now the agent is deducting cleaning costs from our deposit and when I rang Abacus they didn't even apologise, let alone try to put it right.
