Visited September 2020. This truly is a quality property, converted and maintained to a very high standard. The photos do not do it justice. The main living, dining and kitchen area is far more spacious than it appears and with the exposed roof trusses and purlins has a light, airy feel. The kitchen comprises high quality units professionally fitted and the appliances are all modern. The website describes the bedroom as 'cosy', it's a little tight getting past one corner of the bed and on the far side but otherwise there's plenty of room. The bathroom is compact but functional. If you were staying in colder weather, being a recent conversion it will be insulated to modern standards and the storage radiators and wood burning stove would keep you warm. We had no issues with tv or wifi during the week. The speed isn't fast, you won't be downloading your CAD files but I had no issues with Skype calls, You Tube or iplayer. The Bosch cooker ran a little cooler than mine at home so dishes took slightly longer but the toaster actually browned both sides the same. Dishwasher and Washing machine both fine and your own rotary clothes line outside. The fridge is under counter with an ice box which accommodated 4 frozen meals. Gates Lodge does have views over open fields from the lounge where you can watch the sun rise. In the evenings we did see bats and owls (and some mornings were woken by them). Gates Lodge is situated on a very quiet road surrounded by farmland so the occasional tractor and local car is all that passes by. It is out in the sticks so ideal if you want a get away from it all holiday but once you've worked out the best routes it's quick to travel to the main tourist destinations. We enjoyed a days boat hire on the Broads from Beccles. I was very impressed by this property, it really has been converted to a high standard and not to the minimum cost, I had the feeling it was done to a standard the owners would be happy to stay in themselves. Fully deserves it's AA rating.
