We stayed in RSC in Formby at the end of "lockdown 3" in mid-March 2021 as our daughter was having treatment at Alder Hey in Liverpool, and we needed plenty of indoor space to home school our other two children, and outdoor space for them to escape to. The cottage was perfect for this, with two living rooms, a large-ish garden, easy access to the lovely NT beaches nearby, and half an hour or so to the hosp. Furnishings are fine, the beds comfy, bathrooms well appointed and functional. Ceilings are high and windows are large. There's a park with playground in easy walking distance. The electrics are a little eccentric (some sockets in the kitchen do not seem to work and light bulbs popped quite regularly), and some of the kitchen equipment is in need of updating but otherwise a perfect base and in happier times we could no doubt have had a great family holiday with easy access to local attractions in Formby, Southport, Crosby and Liverpool. Formby itself is a well to do town with a few shops, at least two supermarkets (Tesco and Waitrose), and rail connections to Liverpool and Southport. The next town, Crosby, is home to Anthony Gormley's Another Place. We found that the washing machine was broken when we arrived; the owner dealt with this speedily and with a minimum of fuss, rapidly concluding that it needed to be replaced and doing so with great efficiency. When our daughter was OKed to travel back to East Anglia sooner than expected, a refund for the remaining nights' stay was agreed without argument , which was v much appreciated in the circumstances. Thank you! We may well be back.
