Great place to watch birds on the lake. There's a nice hide too. Quiet. No other facilities. Good place to start a walk around the lake (reservoir).

A good 2.5 mile circular walk from here crossing the Bluebell Railway twice : turn right out of the car park then turn right again when you hit the road coming down from Blackland Farm. Crossing the bridge over the stream, just at the West Sussex sign is a permissive footpath going up the hill to Stone Farm Rocks. When you get to the top, go left down the path till you come to a bend. Enter the field and follow the path down into the valley then back up again to cross the railway line. Time your walk so that you will be there when a steam train is coming by checking the Bluebell Railway timetable. Then follow the footpath onto the tarmac road and turn right to go under the big railway bridge and through Kingscote Estate winery. If you get the timing right you should see a train from Kingscote going over the bridge. Follow the trackway through the estate till you meet up once again to the path at the top of Stone Farm Rocks and back

There is a small car secluded car park here with a bird hide. There is a good view across the lake and bird feeders and perches erected at points to help people watch the birds. The car park surface is a bit rough, but you are in the countryside at the end of the day! Its never been very busy when we have visited and always been able to get a space.
