Undercastle Cottage

We stayed here at the end of April 2021 for a long weekend booked through Boutique Retreats. As soon as you pull up to the cottage it has the WOW factor. It is simply "chocolate box" and the most wonderful location. Complete privacy but yet a short drive to amenities. We walked to the Horse & Groom in Wood Green which took about 25 minutes which had a lovely garden (dog friendly) and good food. Wonderful walks right on your doorstep. The views from the patio and fishing lodge were breathtaking. We were fortunate with the weather and spent the majority of our time outside just soaking it all in. Our two big dogs loved it and were very relaxed. The garden was completely secure which made it stress free with the dogs. We were very sad to leave and very much hope we get to go back again one day. Simply wonderful!

We stayed for a week in August with two teenagers (in the separate fishing lodge) and two dogs - absolutely faultlessly perfect. As well as being stunningly beautiful and exceedingly comfortable, I found the cottage very generously and thoughtfully equipped and spotlessly clean. We hardly left the cottage all week, really no need to. Recommend the village shop and the pub in Wood Green. Can walk the dogs / kids to there and back through Godshill enclosure without traffic. The fishing is quite tricky here, there is a good deal of weed and a lot of tree and vegetation on the banks to snaffle back casts. To start with, we found that frustrating but in the end we could see the beauty of re-wilding the river and giving the fish some peace! Regarding the 1 star review above, I've used the agency Boutique Retreats many times now and never had any trouble, even dealing with Covid related cancellations.
