Sad occasion, staff worked well, very obliging & compassionate. Ansley went the extra mile in regards to service. Top man...

A dear friend aged 99 has just been buried here, so along I went - in grey cold rain, which didn't help me to appreciate the pulchritude of the view. It's a pleasant Victorian cemetery - not one of the Greats, like Highgate or Kendal Rise or Abney Park; but then it doesn't pretend to be - yet here apparently is the thing: something about you can be buried here even if you don't live in the borough... check it out but there's something about more liberal permissions and burial not costing an arm and a leg? So, if cremation is not for you, here is an option. The little Gothic chapel is serviceable but cute: "nice" is the most juste here, for everything and in every sense. On a sunny autumn day, West Ham might be just the thing. Let me see if I can enclose here a photo of poor old Cathleen being shovelled under with a mechanical digger. Who said the Age of Romance was dead?
