Quirky statement of art and architecture. Looks like a Victorian pumping Station. Designed to be a 'Hawksmoor'. But it's a beach hut. This kind of art goes a bit over my head. But someone must benefit or it would not be created. Is it a beach hut, really? Looks unloved to me like most beach huts on Kent coast they are empty (unused) all year round apart from old faithful users who are there sun, rain, shine, wind, love your beach hut or if you cant why not let someone deserving use it, charity, elderly, nature group, etc?

Lovely colorful art object especially at the evening. Pablo Bronstein has describe this art object as a monument to architecture, paying homage to the quintessentially English architectural vocabulary of the 18th Century Baroque architect, Nicholas Hawksmoor. In the 18th Century the use of this heroic style was chosen deliberately for lighthouses along the south east coast because of the defensive nature of the line of ports and castles from Hastings to Dover. This architecture no longer exists in Folkestone, therefore Bronsteins work will take the form of a lighthouse, filling a gap in the towns history. Situated next to other brightly coloured beach huts on the water front, alongside the Council's mundane arrangements for park maintenance, Bronstein's sculpture's dramatic presence invokes a delightful and piquant sense of folly. Bronstein was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1977 and lives and works in London and Deal, UK.
