Town & Country Grooming

With some trepidation we booked our two standard wire haired dachshunds for stripping at Town and Country. For many years we had travelled to Swindon for this to be done at the breeder of Lottie . However with our advancing years the journey was becoming harder. We could not be more pleased with the change of groomer. Janine was kind and understanding and 4 hours later we collected two relaxed and well stripped dogs. Thankyou.

I am not in the habit of posting reviews, but following the treatment I received from Janine I am compelled to write this. My pup used to go to this salon but she suffered from severe separation anxiety. I decided to home groom her rather. Over the past 2 years we have worked on her anxiety and occasionally used a groomer who came to my house. I called Janine last week to make an appointment as I am going away and wanted my pup to be groomed. I provided Janine with my details, my name, dog's name AND I told her that I used to use her service but we haven't been for a while. When I arrived at the salon Janine went to lock her own dogs away and then came back to say that I am not the client she expected...she has another dog with the same name and the same breed and she thought that was the other dog. I explained that I did give her all my details when I called. Janine responded by asking me whether the only reason I was there was because all the other groomers are full and I couldn't find another groomer. I was so taken aback. I tried to explain that I am going away and wanted a professional groom for my dog. To clarify Janine, I didn't call any other groomers. I only contacted you. Janine again said that we are not the clients she expected. I asked her whether this posed a problem....ie does it matter that my dog is exactly the same breed as the other one but happens to have the same name and I have booked an appointment. She said yes, it is a problem....She was rude and patronising and obviously in no need of customers. I was basically shown the door and she would rather have no clients than groom my dog. I would like to re-iterate that when I previously visited this groomer, I was never late, never took an ungroomed, uncared for dog to her, never not paid her and never had any argument with her. Janine was rude and humiliated me. I travelled 30 minutes to be told that she won't groom my dog as she felt that I only came to her because nobody else was available....this is not the truth....but perhaps you are the last choice for other clients Janine. I wanted to see how my dog did with being groomed away from home but Janine didn't ask and wasn't interested. I needed a groomer, I booked an appointment....And just to clarify, my dog is always well groomed and I am often asked whether she is a show dog....so she is not an uncared for dog that may take double to normal time to groom. There was NO way I would leave my dog with Town or Country following the way Janine spoke to me. Unfortunately Janine I work for an organisation where I am often asked whether I know groomers in the area. I will not mention your company again and neither will anyone else in my team. I will not recommend this groomer as the Salon is noisy, the groomer did not recognise my dogs anxiety, she was extremely rude, humiliated me and wasted my time.

Janine was recommended to me 16 years ago, I have had times when I have had to use other groomers but none come close. My dogs never look better than when Janine has stripped them. Highly recommend her.

Janine is excellent with the cutting of Rosies hair. I would recommend her to everyone.
