Firle Place Tearoom & Terrace

Food choice extremely poor. Food quality very average. No table service. Impossible to get an afternoon tea without booking. Level of restaurant not matching the surroundings.

Lovely salad served with a well prepared but cold cauliflower cheese quice (yuk!) Asked for it to be warmed but was told no facility to do this. What could have been delicious was spoilt. Asked for salt and pepper but they didn't have any! Such a disappointment. Staff seemed embarrassed saying that they had discussed an oven and salt and pepper with management. Would have been 5stars if quiche was hot and there was salt and pepper.

We booked an afternoon tea for a birthday celebration. The weather was lovely so we sat on the terrace. The location and outlook were stunning. The young man looking after us was extremely courteous, friendly and informative. The scones were out of this world, simply the best we've ever tasted. We had ordered a glass of wine each but as all four of us wanted the same wine, we were given the bottle. Not really a criticism, but if you're sitting on the terrace you might want to take a cushion, the seats were quite hard!
