A bunch of comedians ( but no jokes!!!! We paid 4110 for work to be carried out and it never got done. They promised everything and delivered nothing , took our money and became very elusive thereafter . We are currently issuing a county court summons to try and get our money back but are not optimistic as they may not be operating this business anymore. Beware if they start up a new company if James or Catherine Dickinson are involved in a similar SIPS business. And the ONE star above is a MISTAKE it should be zero starts but I accidentally put my finger on it !!

Well planned and well executed, nothing was too much trouble. We have been living in our extension for six months now and the quality of the build is there for all to see.

The right choice for us! After several quotes, meetings and site visits with various companies we have chosen to go forward with Build It Green to build our new 3 bedroom dormer bungalow. Both my husband and I have really liked all the staff we have met and spoken to. Them seem very professional, but also friendly. Of all the companies we received quotes from, they supplied us with the best one (not the cheapest, unfortunately). It was a really detailed quote with 3d images of our house in panel form accompanied by a detailed costing breakdown. But the main reason we decided to choose Build It Green, was the local site visit we had. The site crew seemed lovely and really great at what they do. It was so amazing to see how well run the site was as well as the speed of progress they were able to make. The workers had only been on site for 5 days and it was astounding the progress they had made. We were so impressed and interested we went back 3 days later for a sneaky look from the road side, and we were lucky enough to bump into the clients whose build it was and they informed us they were very happy with their choice of company to build their house and of all the companies that had been involved so far, Build It Green were the best to deal with and the best at resolving problems. This was enough to convince my husband and I. Now we just have to hope our build goes as well as the one we visited. I can't wait for ours to start!

A truly horrendous experience. Don't be fooled by the smooth sales talk and encouragements that you will feel like their only client. Don't believe their programme. Realise they don't actually do anything in house - they buy in their panels and when they suggest you use their structural engineer for all the work on the existing house you are renovating as well as the SIPS extension / roof, realise they will sub contract this and keep you waiting months, sitting on a shell of a building unable to progress and wishing you had just used the local guy who would have done the structural work in a week. Then expect James to avoid your calls, for weeks, and insult you when you challenge them. DO NOT be pressurised into paying up front for extortionately costed design and structural work, (an ultimatum for me, 'we won't come and look at the site unless you pay the design fees in full first') . You may think it is worth it for the smooth ride they promise but will make your life hell. I naively, trustingly, did and spent weeks trying to claw thousands back for work never even started - get your own architect to do Building Regs because BIG will take your money and leave you hanging. In the end I had to get the SIPS association involved, they did get the Building Regs money back but have disappeared from communication now I am stuck on the thousands wasted on structural work and rent - months sitting on an empty and increasingly unstable site mean months more rent. We did not go the SIPS route in the end. At the point at which James shouted repeatedly at my very mild mannered and unassuming architect 'Shut your mouth, just shut your mouth', followed by a tirade of further abuse, then told me he hadn't 'got anything out of me' and that he had 'never had a client behave so appallingly' the relationship was dead. The SIPS association since told me that I should never have been told the roof was suitable for a SIPS construction. On our house, SIPS panels caused almost twice as much steelwork as a traditional roof - and there was I thinking structurally insulated panels would weight bear evenly round the external load bearing walls. Not at all. A whole wasted experience sold by people who do not know enough about what they are doing and cannot project manage even the basics. They have gone into administration once before and it won't surprise me if it happens again - in fact after so many unanswered calls my architect and I wondered if this was what was happening. Four months down the line I have had to re-group, hire another structural engineer to draw up new plans for a traditional cut and pitch roof and the house is still a shell. Apologies for the length of this, but it is a hard thing to get over and I wish, how I wish, someone had warned me. It has cost me thousands, months of sleepless nights and I feel an immense amount of guilt that I am putting my children through this - they keep asking when the house will be fixed. In September, had I not trusted this company. As it is, likely December.
