This looks like at one time it was a fairly impressive and substantial private residence, set in a commanding elevated position above Felixstowe on a residential street. Anyway, it's now part of the Suffolk County Council estate and as such has the appearance of a slightly run down and uncared for older people's home. The sort you'd mostly only see on undercover Panorama programmes amidst a public outrage on the state of poorly recruited and untrained 'care' staff. So, with its poor lighting, dingy corridors, misshapen spaces and a frankly disasterous refurbishment programme to convert it into its current use as a mulit-purpose fit for little premises, it's difficult not to look at the potential this place holds. If only investment was available to either restore its former status or sensitively convert it with contemporary accomplishment as a place in which people would want to work, visit or otherwise use. I expect despite all this, it's an asset to the community.
