Its a dock or harbour or quay on an estuary that once saw thriving sea trade responsible for the towns prosperous growth. Sadly those days are long gone and what is left is a scruffy series of car parks on the edge of the dock surrounded by nondescript buildings mainly unrelated to the sea. Theres an even scruffier walk up stream. The scene is not lifted by the moored crafts which matches well the rest of the offering. All this is a great shame as the way in from the centre is via some really interesting historical domestic buildings all exceptionally well preserved and maintained. No idea who owns the quay but the council need to step in and develop this area as top visitor attraction - or let the developers privatise it as they have done further up stream.
