It's easy to see why Papa Bianco gets good reviews, the food is excellent, it's a great venue in a lovely spot. I understand that it's very popular and rightly so, and I wouldn't want to put anyone off. Our experience was as follows: we arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday, yes it was quite busy and we understood when we were told that there was a wait of an hour. A long time but we were prepared for this, we had some drinks and a bowl of chips. It actually took them an hour and a half (not one hour) and it looked as though people sitting outside were being prioritised. There was a private party upstairs and this perhaps contributed to the pressure on the kitchen. Finally, I was overcharged on two glasses of wine. I later found out this should have been 6 a glass but I was charged 17. This was the second time in a month we were made to wait an hour and a half for a meal (the other time was a pub in Rochester). Are we just unlucky?
