I started seeing Dr Farha Choudhary in 2017. Over the past four years, I have had, with few interruptions, weekly therapy. Farha has been present since the beginning of my treatment and has been my primary source of psychotherapy. We quickly built a strong and safe therapeutic relationship, which allowed her to identify problems others had not. My presentation is complex, but Farhas expertise has enabled me to make significant progress in both understanding and managing my condition. She has supported me through times of stability and crisis with skill and compassion. In times of crisis, she has acted decisively and ensured my safety. Farha has always been honest and direct about what she can safely provide. When necessary, she has encouraged and facilitated me to seek help from other services. She has supported many referrals to, and liaised with, NHS services. I am incredibly grateful to Farha for all she has done. I am certain that without her support, I would not be where I am today.

I came to London in August of last year to seek proper mental health care services that I couldn't find back home, as I was practically incapacitated by depression and anxiety due to the complex trauma accumulated since childhood. I was referred to Dr. Farha (founder of Revive psychology) in October of 2018 by a psychiatrist who operates primarily from a private clinic in Harley Street. The psychiatrist I was frequently seeing recommend Dr. Farha because a) she is from "an ethnic background and therefore can provide therapy on issues related to cross cultural dilemmas" as her website's profile states-- a pivotal quality in the person I was seeking, and b) she is trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, which is the modality I would most benefit from as per my past diagnosis. By most people's account, the clinic's fees are exorbitant - even for London's standards (170 in-person session/ 120 online session), yet I decided to go ahead anyway because I was in dire need of help-- not knowing where else to look for it, and was therefore fervently willing to make that investment to start my long road to recovery. However, having availed Dr. Farha's services for a few months now, I personally do not find her to be particularly adequate in her approach- certainly not to the degree that it warrants the rates being charged. What was most troubling for me, amongst other things, is that when I would convey my dissatisfaction with how things were going, I would almost always get an immediate response that I could terminate my sessions with her if that was my preference, instead of getting the support and assurance I needed. Moreover, I have already had two instances where she would be absent due to traveling for weeks at a time, once shortly after I started seeing her. Having come to London for the sole purpose of getting the appropriate therapy- as I neither work nor study- and therefore have no daily commitments, this absenteeism has seriously undermined what little progress I was making towards my recovery. When I relayed my vexation to her about it via email, she became defensive, and eventually attributed it to her annual leave. I am all too aware that therapists aren't a "one-size-fits-all", and whereas others could have possibly benefited from Dr. Farha's services, based on my experience alone I personally cannot in good conscience recommend this clinic to anyone seeking therapy.
