Simpson Millar did an advance directive for me about ten years ago. I approached them again recently in order to make updates to it but apparently they no longer have any solicitors specialised in mental health. Will have to find somewhere else...

I was with a solicitor in Birmingham. She was fine until she advised me that she was moving firms and that it was Simpson Millar, a large firm, and asked if I wanted to carry on as her client. I didnt want to change solicitors as I had already been through a lot with the DMV in an 18-year- old marriage and just wanted my divorce and financial matter over with, as she had given me a timeline of 6-9 months of completing the proceedings whilst at the current firm, so I agreed. When everything was transferred over, what I wasnt aware of changed firms further to the whole process, which was another 12-18 months. My solicitor then became very careless with duty of care,and started misinforming me about information. At this point, it became very frustrating because she advised me that she was moving firms again in 6 months. This firm was too much for her as it had many departments which she had to converse with and counter intuitive to her family life. At this point, I was very distressed and refused to transfer again, so I looked at the firm's family law solicitors and they had a great biography. So, I called the head of department and he reassured me that he would allocate me a solicitor within the firm and not to worry. As I explained to him about my previous solicitor's behavior and also advised him of the billing which the costs werent correct as she was charging me for work that she had not done and I myself contacted surveyors I was going to contact accounts department he advised not to and youll have a solicitor contact you. I was contacted within a few days by Maya Bhatiani. I looked at her bio and she was excellent in her field of expertise, but 7 years experience compared to the previous solicitor who had 17 years, but everything looked great. She was based in a London firm. I was fine with that as I didnt mind traveling to London, but I was contacted via email, which I did find unusual, and responded thinking we would meet in person. But no, she corresponded via email despite me asking to meet in person, but the matter worsened when she could have advised theres no need for another FDR and we can just simply go to a final hearing! Furthermore, she didnt read much into my file and it was an absolute mess in court as she had inserted figures of my wages which she miscalculated and failed to confirm whether anything was incorrect! But I can ensure the large amounts of bills continue to be added to your account! This is not a firm that has any client care or integrity! They over promised and under delivered !!!! If you want results, this is not the firm as they are only interested in billing you, and I myself only met her once in the office as I suggested, which she emailed on Saturday morning asking if I was sure that I wanted to come to London and we could go to the teams meeting! You wont be meeting a solicitor in person with this firm only emails which is clearly incompetent. I have rescinded my services from this firm and asked to compensate. Find a firm thats really willing to deliver results and client care!
