Ive had the unfortunate experience of several other brand electric folding wheelchairs and wish Id found Toby & the Lith-tech team years ago!
Im a wheelchair user with limited mobility and needed a chair I felt safe in after ending up in the middle of the road in my Q50R I was pushed to purchase with my NHS budget. It left me scared to go out and when I did, my carer had to hold the back like a buggy to stop it sliding.
I fortunately found Tobys videos which gave me loads of information about driving a folding wheelchair safely. It also showed me that what I needed from my chair (flexibility, lightweight, suitable for chasing my niece and nephews and for zooming around my garden) was not just a pipe dream!
I did some research on their really great website and phoned Toby for a chat. He was knowledgeable and we decided the best plan was to come test drive the chairs at Naidex this year. Thats exactly what I did. The team there were ace, I went around the test track to try out real world wheelchair issues such as slopes, kerbs, doorways etc.
I loved the chair but wanted to talk it over with my carer, so didnt purchase at Naidex. But I did call the next day and ordered the SCX.
I never felt like I was being sold a product, just given advice to help make the best choice for my needs. Toby even said on the phone before we met, that I may find a more suitable chair at the exhibition. The exhibition offers, unlike other competitors, were valid for a month so there was plenty of time to walk away and think things through.
The SCX sold itself though as soon as I transferred it felt more comfortable, I felt safe and it felt like a bit of a beast with some power. I wasnt wrong! Its got some speed and handles off road very well considering its lightweight frame. Ive been to areas of my garden Ive not been able to before, can keep up with the nieces and nephews and it handles like a dream. Its suspension is great, I have chronic pain and most chairs can be like bone shakers and cause more discomfort. The SCX has added suspension which ensures travelling up kerbs and over bumps are comfortable. I purchased the thicker cushion and its really good. No wheelchair butt with the design, just added comfort and height for me as a shorter person. Loving the adjustability for back rest, joystick etc, lots of thought has gone into the design and looks ace in black! Great battery life and my partner and carer tell me its easy to fold and get into the car. The SCX has helped me feel more confident and begin to participate again without needing someone to hang on the back or push me out of ditches.
Really pleased with this most considered purchase. Would recommend the product to anyone seeking a foldable wheelchair- Ive tried many and this is by far the best by miles.
Toby and the teams knowledge and understanding make the process painless. Quick to get answers and advice, once ordered, quick safe delivery.
Give them a try, you wont be sorry!
