ROAK

We worked with an architect and ROAK to completely redesign and renovate our 4-bedroomed, oak-framed Tudor cottage (original building dates from 1620s) on the Surrey-Hampshire border. The work was extensive and challenging in parts, taking a year to complete (December 2019). ROAK stripped the house right back to its brick-and-timber shell and then re-built everything, using traditional techniques for the old sections and state-of-the-art modern construction for the new. The quality of the re-build was consistently excellent from the old lime plaster and oak of the cottage, to the sharp, modern lines of the rest. David Epps took a reasonable, common-sense approach at all times and worked well with both our architect and us: making good suggestions and keeping us involved in key decisions. ROAK have a tight-knit, professional team who have been working together for years and were always friendly and diligent on site. Attention to detail and precision were evident in all their work. Weve now got a beautifully finished, contemporary home with bags of character and an authentically renovated 17th Century cottage at its heart and throughout its re-wired, re-plumbed, insulated and veined by modern control systems. Weve worked with other builders on housing projects before, and frequently had issues or disappointments; we experienced none of this with ROAK. Were delighted with the work and approach of ROAK and would recommend them without hesitation. They are skilled, realistic and professional to work with. We would absolutely work with them again.
