2023 update 30 April, a one star review- we ordered Sunday lunch roast beef. The beef was awful, nearly all fat, seemed to be a cheap cut. We complained and got desserts for free after pushing for a discount. Spoilt the whole experience, we won't be going back. We have eaten there before and had the nice pizzas, no complaints with those. We noticed later that other reviews talked about fatty meat, the restaurant needs to take note of this, either get better meat in or take those choices off the menu. 2019 -a 4 star review. Good food and atmosphere. Had to pay 10 pounds deposit each when booking online which wasn't deducted from my bill initially. I spoke to the person at the till and they apologised and issued another bill showing the deduction. I am hoping that was a one off error...

Came yesterday for a roast with my friends. Food was average, meat was very fatty so I couldnt eat majority of mine, and for 20 youd expect better quality than that. The service was extremely slow, we were there 3 hours and was only asked what we wanted for a drink once, an hour after we arrived, and it wasnt busy at all. We also had to ask for the service charge to be removed as it is automatically added to the bill which I think is a bit cheeky. Many people would be too embarrassed to ask for this to be removed so they are making a lot of money on top of each table every day when they may not always deserve it. Its nice to have the option to leave a tip which I always do if the food and service is on point but unfortunately I wouldnt return due to the food and the service. Shame as its a lovely pub in a good location. Also they had no cauliflower cheese? We were booked for 12pm so how they couldnt offer this side at this time was strange.
