I went to Magic Scissors barber shop in Farnham and asked for a quick Christmas trim (short back and sides) and I was refused because I am a woman. I have very short hair, shorter than most typical mens styles, but they would not provide me with the service, even though one barber was cutting a customers hair at the time and the other one was sat doing nothing. I felt belittled and embarrassed. I asked, if I was a man with the exact same hair, wanting the same haircut would you do it? And they said, yes! I told them, it was discriminatory and unlawful and they laughed at me. So I left, but it just felt so horrible and uneccessary to treat someone that way. **added after response** Hair is hair. There is no special training for just male hair. There is barber training with clippers and for short hairstyles and my hairstyle was the same as a typical male style. So it IS discriminatory. Furthermore was laughing at me part of the training?
