We were lucky enough to photograph a wedding at Bilston Brook's wedding venue last year and it was such an awesome day. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the barn itself is beautiful. I especially love the ceremony room and the beautiful arched doorway outside which was a great backdrop for group shots. Thanks for all your help on the day - I look forward to photographing here again Dave

I had my wedding at Bilston Brook Wedding Barn back in Feb 2022 and I have waited a year to give an impartial review on my experience in organising the wedding and dealing with the barn owners, so nothing could cloud my judgement. I am giving 2 stars, because I was able to have my wedding at the barn and it went... as well as things could have gone. The organisation and management of the barn and its grounds is incredibly poor. I purchased hire of the barn from the original owners back in 2020 and booked in everything I needed to make the wedding perfect, all I needed to do was confirm with them who my caterers were going to be. Then maybe a year later, Brenda bought the barn and then another month or so afterwards, the wedding organiser left the barn, leaving me and several other brides with no organiser which was part of the package. Brenda then hired a professional wedding planner, free of charge, who had many years of experience in the business but then a month or two later she also left. This was now about 3 months away from my wedding, and after speaking with Brenda, she had no idea what I wanted and her attitude was more focused around her getting the barn to look nice for new clients - or at least that's what was communicated across to me. Brenda complained to me about the organiser and wedding planner who dropped out, even though I didn't want to know due to stress and feeling that this attitude was incredibly unprofessional. Along the way my paperwork got mixed up and some parts were lost, but I relented and let that go as long as I could have the most important part of the day sorted, which it was. Eventually, Brenda hired the young 'upstart' (Brenda's words, not mine) whom she had previously described to me as being incompetent in helping with organising the barn from when she bought the business. Again this made me feel very uncomfortable to even be around Brenda, and by this time external caterers who I was trying to hire refused to work with Brenda, leaving me: 2/3 months before the wedding, without food for my guests. Eventually, I managed to hire someone who passed onto me that Brenda was talking to them and other professionals about the brides who were due to get married and basically slagging them off - incredibly unprofessional. I had a meeting with Brenda and the new wedding organiser, who was really helpful and a good mediator to get what I needed as I was the next bride to use the venue. The wedding went well, the lovely wedding organiser bent over backwards to accommodate us but unfortunately, Brenda (who was not really meant to be onsite during the wedding and reception) decided to walk around my wedding in her riding clothes and wellies, dragging dirt through the venue. The final negative thing that then happened was that the DJ who we were told we would have to use by the owner from the start was awful. He was rude, played the wrong music and refused to turn it down, and our first dance was ruined by the bad quality speakers that crackled constantly. I did let the organiser know of this but we were not offered a discount or apology, they just dropped him for the next customer. The whole experience was incredibly frustrating and distressing and I feel very surprised I managed to keep my cool whilst organising the wedding. Never before have I come across a company who discusses clients business with other clients or professionals and then argues with their clients about the choices that THEY want at their wedding. I do hope that others found their wedding experiences more enjoyable and got what they paid for, because I most certainly did not.
