One of the most basic meals I've ever had. We ordered chicken in a brown spicy sauce and chicken in a sickly sweet red sauce. It was meant to be a madras and a tikka masala. The Naan bread was really oily and had dark splodges of god knows what in it. (It was meant to be a garlic Naan). The pilau rice was day glo yellow and tasted really weird. It was pretty bad. It reminded me of the sort of curry that was available in the 80s....out of a packet! Sadly I ordered online because If I'd have walked in to place an order I'd have definitely turned around and gone elsewhere. The place was grotty and dated. Never again.

Super friendly staff, but doesnt influence the quality of food offered This is the first and last time we will be getting a take out at the Curry King, maybe in its day, the title would have been self serving, however, as with most take away venues, their fame becomes complacent and saving money on bulking food portions becomes the "norm". We ordered the Goan King Prawn, and the Chicken Tikka Biryani with a Paratha. Goan King Prawn curry - the flavour profile was pretty good 4/5, however the quantity of prawns x5 was pretty poor, and the bulking agent i.e. 2 x very large pieces of green pepper was just crazy. For 14.65, this is shocking for a curry sauce with a few prawns, I would expect this to come with at least a portion of rice. Chicken Tikka Biryani - really dry and pretty bland. However, their was plenty of chicken pieces but dry and without much Tikka flavour. The paratha was tasty, however, again dry. We did get 2x free popadums at .85p each which were really good. Overall, for the price of 30 quid, I would have expected much more in regards to the quality of food offered. The Goan curry was just a rip off bulking it with green pepper is just wrong. Recommendations In Fairford I have none, there is an Indian take away in Lechlade but havent tried it yet. The price comparison for other take away venues in Fairford is well above the average as the chinese is a third of the price along with the pizza, and kebab venues. I would suggest either using smaller containers or actually filling the current ones with quality food instead of bulking them with peppers. Also offer rice to make the dish complete without having to spend another 3.15 on bioled rice!! We normally spend 30 quid eating in a pub (without drinks) so you have to match great quality if your going offer a takeaway version. #letsguide #localguides #localguide #curryking #foodblogger #fairford #cotswolds #food #indianfood #
