We stopped on the green at Eydon for lunch on our Saturday hike. My wife set off in front of me, hoping to find somewhere to buy another drink from, whilst I chatted to a local man about the beautiful village. When I caught up with her, she was standing outside Oboe Fine Wine - not the drink I had in mind, but hey, a great find! The building itself is beautiful, inside and out. The owners have not spoilt but rather left it mainly to its natural 18th (I believe) century glory. Decorated sparsely with items that only accent the age of the place. The fine wines draw the eye to the far wall where they're beautifully presented and, to me, very tempting! The owners are themselves not only knowledgeable of their wares but very friendly and enthusiastic too. They both helped us make our decision on what to buy with sincerity and not pushiness to simply purchase the most expensive item like some places do. We ended up with a gorgeous Prosecco for my wife, which went lovely with new potatoes, a fancy nut roast, and erm... coronation coleslaw! Well, she enjoyed it, and that's all that matters, lol. I chose a Pinot grigio, which I paired with a bacon and mushroom risotto and roast belly pork - it was fantastic! Light enough to quaff the first glass but bold enough to stand up to the salty, smoky bacon, and with enough acidity to cut through the fat of the pork. The prices are very fair, particularly as the products on sale are indeed fine wines. They're from small producers all over the world, so they are quite special wines and well worth the price. So, all in all, happening upon this lovely little shop and the couple that run it was a fantastic and unexpected additional pleasure to our Saturday hike. They even told us where we could get a softer drink, lol - a pop-up shop about 2 doors down. If you're in the area and like wine, drop into this place, and you'll love it.

Great range of interesting wines that are surprisingly affordable for a boutique shop such at this. David was a great help in talking us through the various wines and the history of the building. Looking forward to tasting our assorted wines and we will be sure to be back!

David and Kim are brilliant additions to the wine trade. Welcoming, passionate and plenty of information about every wine they offer makes the experience a breeze. Such a great shop with lots of history itself. What a little gem. Cant wait to go back.
