"NEW SISAL RUNNER" Myself & my wife Amy have been after a runner for our hallway , our previous runner being of a size we seemed unable to find anywhere these days. Fortunately we have friends who advised us to call at Carter-Derricks in Topsham, we did so, where we were shown several options available, after which we came away having placed our order with Gary, the owner, for a runner made from wool with a cotton border, it now looks fresh as a daisy having taken the place of the Indian runner in our hallway, we are both very pleased with the service received, thank you very much indeed.

Weve just had Sisal carpet fitted to our stairs and two landings. It looks absolutely fantastic. After seeing a sisal stair carpet whilst on holiday we decided this is what we wanted to replace our ageing carpet. Having looked around and consulted local Exmouth and Exeter carpet stores we learned that Sisal carpets werent something many people wanted to sell/fit. After googling Sisal carpets we landed on the Carter-Derrick website and went and paid them a visit. Gary was great in showing us samples and giving us advice about the product so we invited him round to measure up and give us a quote. Gary and Annie came round with several samples so we could see what matched our hall flooring while Gary measured up. At the end of an hour we had a quote and decided to go ahead. Both Gary and Annie and the fitters were a pleasure to deal with and we are well pleased with the end result.

I contacted this company by email to get some quotes for changing a domestic carpet. Gary provided the responses and was indeed prompt in his replies. He demonstrated knowledge of the materials I asked him about. This boosted him to two stars for this review. However the positives end there. His people skills are terrible! His emails were minimising about my choice in material, and thick with what felt to be sarcasm (lots of use of "inverted commas") and notable passive aggression (see an example response below). He did not offer to provide even a very general idea of cost other than to say: You will have a good idea of the price from your first installation, my advice is to retain that price realising prices have risen. Other local companies have been more than happy to give a loose quote with friendly service. I fear this company has stale values with a poor attitude when dealing with the public. It does surprise me why someone wants to work in the public domain when they show such distain towards the people they are working with. Needless to say I'd recommend avoiding Carter-Derrick Carpets and choose from one of the much friendlier local carpet shops in the wider Exeter area.
