my daughter was moving into Exeter university and anticipated staying the night. Because wed left it so late all hotels were full we booked globe backpackers Exeter, pictures on website didnt look too bad and double room 50 per night. On arrival male receptionist showed us round however smell of hostel was horrendous, carpets were filthy with flies in room. Smell was so strong and overpowering I was retching and coughing - this is not a backpackers hostel, but a homeless hostel. Homeless people deserve to stay in decent conditions which this place does not provide. Conditions were so bad I could not stay the night and handed the keys back, I spoke to the receptionist but doubt I will get my money back. Strongly recommend that you buy a tent and pitch in the local park before staying in this hostel - atleast you have fresh air.
