JMT Wood Carpentry & Building

Having used JMT Wood for a previous project, we got Jody out to quote for a new rear extension to our home. From the initial discussions through to the estimate, Jody ensured he understood what we wanted and gave us ideas of how it could be achieved within budget. From day 1, Jody made sure we knew who would be on site and what they would be doing and this gave us time to plan around any noisy or dusty work and any deliveries of materials. The groundworkers cleared the old patio and dug the foundations with their digger while avoiding sewers and gas pipes. Due to poor access to our garden, Jody and his team worked tirelessly to barrow concrete around for the foundations and the team's collaboration meant it was done as quickly and efficiently as it could be. The new extension included opening up existing parts of the property by taking down the rear wall, including removing French doors and a window, and knocking down an internal load bearing wall. This work required the installation of two very heavy steels. The work also needed our old kitchen, old utility room and toilet removing, a new boiler in a new location with many water and heating pipework modifications, new electrics including a new consumer unit (at my request), a new utility room, a new kitchen with an island, large sliding doors, a new bathroom, filling in an archway, full plastering and decorating of the downstairs of the property, improving our porch, new wood flooring, external cladding, new Velux windows and a new rear patio with modified fencing. Because of the amount of work, the team made sure we had some space to live in at each part of the project. Jody's team ran things well throughout. Special mentions must go to Justin, who put up with my constant questions and was always happy to give advice, to Ben for his patience and work on the patio and finishing touches, and to Clay, who was always there working hard to assist them. Overall, I think there were 22 people involved in our build. All of them were polite, courteous and worked to the highest standards. Jody managed them all and kept track of everything. JMT Wood delivered the project within the timescale they set and delivered it on budget. There have been no problems in the 2 months we've been living in it and the finish on all work is excellent. We would use JMT Wood in the future for any type of building or carpentry work and we highly recommend them! We are thrilled with our kitchen/dining/utility/cloakroom renovation recently completed by JMT Wood. We now have a fabulous flowing, open plan living area which looks stunning and works really well. Jody and his fantastic, hard working team were all conscientious, friendly professionals. Jody was always contactable, had vision, paid great attention to detail and gave us sound advise throughout whether knocking through a wall, replacing flooring, installing insulation, new lighting and electrics, plastering or decorating. From start to finish, JMT Wood have been fantastic. We have just had Jody and Mike build bespoke wardrobes in our rather difficult space in our bedroom, crooked edges and uneven walls. They were able to start the project ahead of schedule, (always a bonus!) and then completed the work with complete professional, friendly, perfection- it was a hard job and they nailed it, we are delighted with the finish!
