"Not our problem". I collected a frail wheelchair bound resident to take them to their relations' home so they could go with them to the Remembrance Day service at the local Church. Arriving at the house I was greeted by the carer of the partner, however the front door key had been misplaced. I called the Home to seek some advice and obtain the number for the additional family members that were meeting this lovely person or to ask if they should be taken directly to the church. I was answered by the sister at The Old Rectory Nursing Home (I have the name but will not give it here) in an abrasive and rude manner and before I could fully explain she said aggressively and I quote 'its not our problem' and continued to talk over me me refusing to help and expressing a complete lack of care for their resident. I had to speak quite firmly to get her to listen and to simply ask if I could have a number for visiting relations of the vulnerable resident so I could ask them instead given the 'sisters' complete lack of care. She simply replied she was busy and would call back and promptly hung up, having not even taken my number. The key was eventually located and the person left to wait for the family to arrive with the responsible carer. I called to update the home and to politely speak to somebody in authority but was told allegedly there were no responsible people there at the weekend, ironic choice of words. Concern should be deeply shown here given the outrageous response and attitude of those representing this home. The most beautiful of flowers may hide dangerous poison and this place looks lovely. Be careful and show as much diligence as you can if considering placing a loved one here. A legal term that applies 'let the buyer beware'...

It was some two years ago when we brought Dad to be looked after at The Old Rectory. His reluctance to leave his home evaporated very quickly after a few days of personal care by the lovely staff and the warm welcome given by them and the other residents. Now the Old Rectory is his home and he loves it. The atmosphere is warm and tranquil and the rooms are well appointed. Dad loves the social events and particularly enjoys seeing everyone for a pre lunch aperitif. The food is first class and I very much look forward to the times I can join him for lunch. I have to thank all the staff for the excellent care of Dad. I would wholeheartedly recommend this nursing home

Exceptional care, beautiful house, gardens and incredible staff. As you would expect from a family run business with generations of experience. Highly recommended

My Dad has lived here for several years and is very happy and content. This family run home caters for all his needs and the staff are very kind and caring. He initially went for respite breaks and thought it was like a "5 star hotel"!! The food is excellent as we have had lunch ourselves several times with him. He now has his own lovely room with ensuite toilet and washbasin. Nothing is too much trouble and he is encouraged to go to some of the events that are arranged. When we visited before Christmas they had set up a cocktail bar which was enjoyed by everyone. Highly recommended as a "home from home" environment where Caring comes with a capital C!
